Skiing down towards Coire Raebert
Superb skiing on Easter Sunday so after a few warm up runs down from Cairngorm’s summit towards Loch Avon I headed towards Coire Raebert not realising the run down to Loch Avon wasn’t quite complete!

Easter Sunday Skiing on Cairngorm
Переглядів 2723 місяці тому
The winter of 2024 has been one of the poorest winters for settled weather, snow buildup and all snow sports. However unexpectedly Easter Sunday just about made up for it, at least for a day! The video is my first off-piste run of many on the Sunday and I was just blown away by the quality of the skiing and sunshine!
Climbing Hookers Wide Chimney with Eddie

Nice to see Eddie back for more winter fun. Eddie had previously done a winter mountaineering course with me and was back for a few days of private guiding. The previous day was wild with no visibility, heavy snow and strong winds however day two with an early start and finish was just perfect along with much improved climbing conditions. We weren’t sure of the avalanche conditions give the pre...

Despite limited and poor snow cover on the main ski area the ski conditions and snow cover were much better than I expected on the back of Cairngorm and you could ski right down to the Saddle and close to Loch Avon if you wished! This gave me the chance to try out the Insta360 third person view waist mount and the GoPro 11 mini’s Max lens mod and then edit in Quik!
Neville & Greg skiing Aladdin's Couloir Mishap on 19th April 2014!

Very icy and serious conditions for skiers in Aladdin’s Couloir in the Cairngorms just before Greg’s mishap, fall at the narrows and rescue! Despite soft spring snow on the plateau the gully is often still very icy even when in the sun as it’s shaded for a good part of the day. The skiers entry from the top is extremely serious as any slips before the Aladdin’s Couloir Mirror Col at Aladdin’s S...

The sound of silence! The video snippets are from day two of Ollie and Giles two days of private instruction and technique coaching in the Cairngorms. This took them from learning the very winter basics to fairly advanced winter mountaineering and winter climbing skills. Neither Ollie or Giles were experienced trad climbers though both were alpine skiers with good fitness from endurance events ...
‘Slab and Flake Chimney’ winter variation of ‘Brain Melt’ V,7
Переглядів 2674 місяці тому
The GoPro footage is from the 8th February 2024 and at minus 9 it was bitterly cold on Cairngorm. Over the previous week there had been good melt freeze for a full on winter ascent of 'Slab and Flake Chimney' on Torr Mor, Cnap Coire na Spreidhe. The route was originally first climbed in the summer 20/9/20 by Fi and I later finding that the upper section of the route coincided with the winter ro...

Climbing the L’Aiguillette de Laus Cervieres
Whatever it takes to make a climber, I have almost none of those qualities and am poorer for the want of them.
Joe Simpson. One of the most underrated alpine climbers.
I've watched this video several times, as well as Touching the Void. So much wisdom in this dicumentry that has applicationss to our entire lefe. There are no guarantees in life that --- you give yourself 100 percent to an endeavor with the highest expectations that you will see success... and sometimes it is just not meant to happen. As the expression says: "Tht dog ain't gonná hunt."
I love this documentary. Joe reenacting and narrating, a remarkable and haunting little soundtrack that I found on the composer's website years ago and have never been able to find since. But my favorite bit of trivia about it is that the narrator plays the guy who grows the weed in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
Update Ron" i found that the Battery has movement [lateral ] this has caused the terminals to burn, [this explains the E06 /08 fault] i have clamped it tight, its solved the problem, but need new teminals, them silly 2 pin hole type are burnt,
Aye ron" my display M5 needs repaced, the switch on the bars broke, tried Shengmillo theres had a short cable with round plug, mine is long full lenth square 5 wire, explained this ,but no joy,. so bought a aftermarket from chine ,see how it goes wen arrives,
Hopefully it’ll work! How has the bike been going, what mileage have you now done?
@@RonWalkerCairngormGuides Bikes been good, 480miles, apart from error 8./6. sometimes, this is connections just need split and cleaned, ,dry days are here ,so need the switch gear, etc,,[ i can link out the broken switch, to get it running,] ,but its not ideal,
No more hydraulic breaks in MX04 I think this is how they cost Cut to make it cheaper
Can’t 👂
Are you still ebiking?
Thank you for this video really helped alot.
Just to add, really important to adjust the size/length of the crampons so that they are really tight on the boot. It should take a little force to get your boot into the crampon. I had my crampons one notch to big and while my boots fit into the crampon fine and initially the strap held things in place, I had a dangerous situation where mid climb by crampon came loose. Fortunately was in a place where I could move over a little to a spot to sit and fix before proceeding onward.
I know they climb mountains "because it's there" but the whole time, expense, effort and risk seems pointless.
Hi Ron, hoping you can help. I recently purchased the MX03 and have found communicating with merkx not productive. I am going to fast on pas 1 etc, when I peddle I have to break constantly when getting around town. Do you know how to limit the speed on pas 1, pas2 etc so the battery input is minimal in pas 1 and 2? Cheers
Is that the new MX03 or the older version?
Man how I wish they had left that rope in place and maybe they didn't have extra ropes and didn't think they'd need to go back across that ice covered. If only they'd have thought we will leave it just in case. May these brave men RIP. Brave souls and dear friends.
I do that, but it doesn’t come up anything like that Mine comes up as 5E
Beautiful mood & footage
Superb.
I need help finding new forks and screen for mine ,? Any help would be appreciated
Thank you so much
Glad to help 😊

Great video and great song? Many years ago I used to ski up in the Lake District a lot. There was times when the weather was bad (often) but it would suddenly open up to reveal an untouched area of fantastic snow. Its like the mountain was rewarding you for the respect and effort you were putting in. Just the noise of your skis and nothing else...can't beat that, no clunking Poma's. They may look like hills but they behave like mountains and can be brutal and without a ski patrol, that was always in my mind. But I can say in all my years skiing in the Lake District, it gave me a feeling of unity and freedom I never got in the Alps even when off-piste.
Hello. Is your mx03 still working? have you got any problems with it?
Not used it over the winter but still working despite the battery being left discharged over the summer or left fully charged for months over the winter when not used. I initially had problems with the battery connections but it’s a well known issue that’s been sorted in later models and easily avoided if you don’t use it continuously on throttle when going up hill! The newer models should be better though they don’t have the 4 inch fat tyres which are good for the off-road tracks here and some don’t have hydraulic brakes!
Joe was a fighter. To think of him climbing tis face on a previously shattered knee and femur in the Andes fall, is staggering.
That looked really really enjoyable Ron when a big southeast to east wind blows the coronation can be epic looked like the headwell was well banked out as well . Some of the still shots were really great pictures Ron thank you for posting video weather was great must have been awesome ski lovely gopro shots as you came down very enjoyable video ron
Yes great fun though there were quite a few sharks just under the surface especially at the top and lower down towards the top of the Cas tow! I hadn’t really expected any decent skiing this season given it was bare just a week ago, so was a joy just to get such nice carving snow, sun and light winds!
Absolutely stunning photos an video ron beautiful snow to ski on and fantastic weather conditions for a great day in the mountains very enjoyable to watch
Wichs number to set The throttle to 6 km/h
Looks a fabulous experience thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Looks like a great day out!

Love the sunlight across the screen. Here's a thought, Do Over!
Met Dave Cuthbertson in a hit in Switzerland 😊. Loved these films, recognised him from this year's before.

How does the mx03 updated version compare to the mx05 . Which is better . Thanks
Hi) How can I disable the assistance in the settings and only leave the gas accelerator enabled? Also, what is the PIN code to access the P2 and P4 menu options?

Dziękuję bardzo za pokazanie swoich ustawień. Tak namieszałem, że nie miałem wspomagania na korbach. Teraz wszystko działa
Was that controller box case hard to get back? i mean the hole in the bottom is so small and lot of wires have to suit there. I want to open mine to spray some kontakt CRC there, but im afraid i can't get it back closed :D
Boring !
I was recommended this upload. Glad I listened. From an avid reader and history buff. Thank you.❤
Where's the damn nudity?
zero mishap, clickbait BS
Where you can buy that new part? I can't find where to buy that pedal sensor, you obviously got a new one from somewhere?
Under warranty so sent out by the Shengmilo the manufacturer!
hmm. What can i do if the warrancy is over? I mailed them, but no answer.@@RonWalkerCairngormGuides

Hi ron enjoyed this wee video . This winter has been terrible just when the mountains get some decent snow and ice it goes the other way big prolonged thaws . Lets hope we get a sting in the tail with a couple of big dumps and hard frost then at least 2 week of calm cold weather .to enjoy some nice sking ice climbing and enjoy the mountains
3:58 does it come in different versions? On the website it was saying 1000 watts
Its 500 watts substwined and 1000 peak,i ordered one
@@MARCO-rq2phstill considered 1000w so don’t worry like if you accelerating with throttle only or when you reaching top speeds with throttle only or when climbing steep hill is 1000w so no worries it’s still considered as 1000w, I also ordered one the shengmilo mx05 I’m waiting for it to arrive so what’s your impressions by now ?
@@Daily_clips638 great bike,i use it to go to work,30km everyday, made 2200km so far,if you cycle at 25km/h It can make 60km,throttle only a bit less like 45 but can reach 40-45kmh,very confortabile and the torque Is really strong. The front brake Is maybe the problem,if i use that makes a loop metallic noise because the disk isnt perfectly straight (prob only mine)but overall Is a great bycicle
@@MARCO-rq2ph nice I can’t wait for mine to arrive !
the mx03 is better for offroad or?
